Some small silk quilts

Merry Christmas!

I know, I know..... It's been a month, but I've been super-busy with the usual holiday chores.

In November, I baked 9 Apricot Brandy cakes (read: Fruitcakes with attitude, and the power to have you fail a breathalizer test). Then, in the last two weeks, 7 lbs of butter later, I had approximately 14 dozen cookies and 4 mince meat pies all ready to take to the usual suspects....family, friends, bank, post office, Dr., etc.. All in all, I made about 10 boxes/plates of home-made calories for all. Whew.

And I'm sure I gained 5 lbs. in the meantime.

January is diet month.

I also had little desk calendars with my art work on every month made and sent them out to all my galleries and a few far-off friends..... and made a Christmas card. It's amazing what I can do under pressure!  Now it's Christmas Eve day and I have nothing to do... PTS.

As for art.... well, the Holiday Sale here was not well attended, so we've decided to have this be our swan song. We'll be joining craft shows that have built-in attendees! Friends did not make their usual visit (some were sick) and none of my students came...:{
As usual with these events, everyone says they can't wait and then, nada. Oh well.

I'm working on some canvas mermaids for my 'sea-side' galleries, pictures to follow (if I like how they turn out).

Turning out some fru-fru necklaces for my new venues in Boston and parts north and for my usual Art in the Barn spectacular in Essex in June.. They'll be for the spring season... again, pics to come when they're ready.

Also, trying to figure out what my entry will be for the Quilt Museum's silk quilts show in April. I have loads of small hand-dyed and quilted pieces, but they're very small and I'd like to do a larger one for this exhibit. It's going to be very interesting to see what the more traditional quilters come up with when they have to work with silk.... or maybe they'll just have avant-garde quilters (like you-know-who) in this show.

So, off to have some fruit cake.... I mean Apricot Brandy cake....Merry Christmas to all.
