Susan Burton, owner of Mixt Media Gallery in Ipswich, MA and fabulous artist, and I went to Southport Island in Maine for two nights. The weather couldn't have been more beautiful!
Cool sunny days and cooler nights..... we froze the first night.
A harbor cruise for an hour showed us a different view of Boothbay Harbor, showing us the 'ocean-side' of a lot of wonderful houses, who's front gardens we had seen from the car.
We met some very nice people there, the employees at our hotel, the Newagen Hotel, were delightful and we felt very welcome, even though we were there thanks to a Groupon coupon.
We found a great gallery in Boothbay Harbor, the Wharfside Gallery, that sold not only the usual 'ocean' paintings, but some wonderful prints of mermaids, birds and even elephants as well as unusual items and artwork. Ed Brown, the owner (and artist/photographer), invited us to send him images of our work, which we will do, as soon as possible!
We wended our way back to 'real life' via Freeport and did some Christmas shopping, although the prices were not what I thought they would be..... not outlet prices at all. We did find a wonderful clothing store there, The Coop, that had a lot of well-known labels, such as Flax, at unbelievable prices. We each bought one piece.....Christmas presents for ourselves??
